Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of EduPill — the code editor extension, the web dashboard and the API. By creating an account, installing the extension or otherwise using the service, you agree to what is written here. If you use EduPill on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind it.
Read this together with the Privacy Policy. It details what leaves your machine, what does not, and why. The two documents form a single agreement.
1. Who provides the service

2. What EduPill does
EduPill generates short questions about the codebase you are working on and shows them during waits — builds, tests, AI agent runs. To do that:
- the extension indexes your repository on your machine;
- to generate each card, it sends our server only the excerpts retrieved for that specific question, capped at 10 excerpts and 16 KB, after an automated credential scan;
- our server forwards those excerpts to a language model provider, which handles them under its own terms, and returns the card;
- the card is displayed and is not stored on our servers.

3. Account
You need an account to use the service, and you are responsible for the accuracy of your details and for keeping your credentials confidential. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
The service is not intended for people under 18. If you are between 16 and 18, you need authorization from a legal guardian.
Corporate accounts with enforced SSO follow the rules of the organization's administrator, who may end sessions and revoke access at any time.
4. Plans, billing and cancellation
4.1 Free plan
The free plan is capped at 4 cards per day, counted at generation time and covering both codebase cards and language cards. Once the cap is reached, generation is blocked until the next day (the day rolls over at midnight UTC). We may adjust this limit with reasonable prior notice.
4.2 Paid plans
Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis through the payment processor Stripe. We neither receive nor store your card details. Renewal is automatic until you cancel.
You may cancel at any time from the dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for — no new charge, and access is kept until then.
4.3 Withdrawal and refunds
Under article 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code, purchases made by individuals may be withdrawn within 7 days of the purchase, with a full refund. Outside that window, refunds are assessed case by case.
If you are a consumer in the European Union or United Kingdom, statutory withdrawal rights under local law apply and are not affected by this clause.
4.4 Price changes
Prices may change. Any change is communicated at least 30 days in advance and applies only to the following billing period. If you disagree, cancel before renewal.
5. Acceptable use
You may not:
- use the service for unlawful purposes, or process code you have no right to process;
- attempt to circumvent plan limits, quotas or access controls;
- reverse engineer, bulk extract or resell the service, except where the law grants you that right;
- deliberately overload the infrastructure, or use automation to generate artificial volume;
- deliberately send secrets, sensitive personal data of third parties, or material you are not allowed to share. The credential scan is a safety net, not a guarantee.
6. Your code stays yours
We acquire no rights over your code. You grant us only the limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to process the excerpts the extension sends, for as long as needed to generate the requested card. Nothing more.
Specifically, we do not use your code, the excerpts sent, or the generated cards to train models, and we do not store them.
The language model providers that process the excerpts are third parties and follow their own terms, which vary by provider and by plan — some retain content for a period, and certain free tiers allow use to improve their own services. Section 7.1 of the Privacy Policy covers this, and Enterprise self-hosted avoids external providers entirely.
Explanations you deliberately write for your team ("knowledge captures") remain yours, and you grant us a license to store them and show them to members of your organization — which is the purpose of the feature.
The EduPill brand, interface, software and our curated card library are ours or our licensors'.
7. AI-generated content
Cards are generated by language models and can be wrong. An answer key may be incorrect, outdated, or fail to reflect the intent of whoever wrote the code.
EduPill is a learning tool, not a source of truth about your codebase. Do not rely on cards as the sole basis for technical, security or business decisions. Authority over your code belongs to you and your team — which is why there is a button to dispute the answer key, and why disputing voids the signal instead of recording an error.
Our progress measure ("Mastery Matrix") is a pedagogical estimate, not a certification or an assessment of professional performance. If your organization uses this data for decisions about people, that responsibility is theirs.
8. Availability
We work to keep the service available, but it is provided "as is", without warranty of uninterrupted or error-free operation. There may be maintenance, outages at external providers, and changes in functionality.
The extension has no offline mode: without a connection to the server, it does not generate cards.
Service level commitments (SLA) exist only where set out in a signed Enterprise agreement.
9. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access in case of breach of these Terms, legal requirement, or risk to the security of the platform or other users — with prior notice whenever possible, and immediately where the risk allows no delay.
Once the account is closed, your data follows the Privacy Policy.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for lost profits, data loss, business interruption or indirect damages arising from the use of or inability to use the service, nor for decisions taken on the basis of AI-generated content.
Nothing here excludes liability that the law does not permit to be excluded — including consumer rights and liability for willful misconduct.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms. Material changes are communicated by email or in-product notice at least 30 days in advance. Continuing to use the service after the effective date means accepting the new version; if you disagree, cancel.
Previous versions are available on request.
12. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
The courts of [JUDICIAL DISTRICT] are elected to settle disputes, without prejudice to a consumer's right to sue in the courts of their own domicile.
